Railways appeals persons with co-morbidities

The Indian Railways on Friday appealed people to avoid travel on ‘Shramik’ special trains if they have co-morbidities like hypertension, diabetes and cancer.


This comes after reports of deaths in special trains being run to transport stranded migrant workers from different parts of the country.

“It has been observed that some people who are availing this service have pre-existing medical conditions which aggravate the risk they face during the COVID-19 pandemic. A few unfortunate cases of deaths related to pre-existing medical conditions while travelling have happened,” Railways said in an appeal.

Besides asking people with co-morbidities to avoid travel, the Railways has also asked pregnant women, children below the age of 10 years and persons above 65 years of age to avoid travel by rail.

“​In order to protect the vulnerable persons from COVID-19, in line with Ministry of Home Affairs, Order No 40-3/2020-DM-I(A) dated 17.05.2020, Ministry of Railways makes an appeal that persons with co-morbidities (for example – hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, immune deficiency conditions), pregnant women, children below the age of 10 years and persons above 65 years of age may avoid travel by rail, except when it is essential,” the appeal shared by Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal said.

The Indian Railways on Thursday said it has 3736 “Shramik’ special trains have been operationalised from various states across the country and around 50 lakh migrants have been transported in 27 days.

Several restrictions have been lifted, which includes permitting transport services, reopening of shops, and resuming online shopping. According to the central government’s most recent order, all activities, except the ones “specifically prohibited”, will be allowed in green, orange, red, and buffer zones, which continue to be classified by the States/UTs and district authorities.

Domestic flight services resumed in India on Monday, while international flights are to start soon as well, the central government has informed as part of its gradual reboot of air travel services in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

Ghaziabad to seal borders with Delhi from Tuesday

As the number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi continues to rise rapidly, the District Magistrate (DM) of adjoining Ghaziabad on Monday ordered to close its borders with the national capital effective Tuesday.


The DM expressed concerned about the rising numbers in Delhi and said that the rules and restrictions were enforced during the prior to the opening of borders will be continued.

Similar orders were issued in April to contain the spread of coronavirus. The restrictions had led to chaos after long queues of vehicles were seen on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border.

People who have passes, however, will be allowed to cross the border. People working in essential services are exempted. Also, media persons and advocates working in various courts at Delhi will be exempted upon providing their identity cards.

Delhi High Court lawyers’ chambers to open in shifts,

Lawyers’ chambers in Delhi High will open from May 21 in two shifts – from 10 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 4 pm – during which the lawyers can come while maintaining social distancing guidelines, the bar association said on Tuesday.

Delhi High Court Bar association has released a circular with a new plan for opening lawyers’ chambers.


Earlier, the Delhi High Court Committee for graded action plan had acceded the proposal for providing access to lawyers to their chambers situated in the court premises to primarily enable them to take away their files, books, belongings.

The access is permitted with certain conditions which include one lawyer per chamber, or two per chamber where the chamber is on twin sharing basis, with one assistance or one junior.

The timings for the access and use of chamber shall be from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon (morning phase) and from 2.00 pm to  4.00 pm (afternoon phase). Layover period be used by housekeeping agencies for sanitation and deep cleaning of the used portions of the building, it said.

This comes as Delhi’s Tis Hazari court has issued a circular directing the advocates, the court staff and others to restrain themselves from using saliva to paste or fix court fee stamps on the documents.

It has also asked them to refrain from using saliva while pagination of the documents of case files.

“Lawyers/Munshis/Litigants/Naib Courts/Police Officials may be asked through court staff not to use saliva while affixing court fee stamps on the application/petition and envelopes containing summons/notices etc,” said the circular.

It was advised that plastic sponge damper pads may be used to inspect the Judicial files.

The court has issued the circular to check the spread of COVID 19 infection in the courts and has asked the concerned people to adhere to it seriously.

Since an impulse wave is larger than the corrective wave, the price of your coin is still lower than what you started with. This folks, is the beginning of what we call a downtrend.

Crypto downtrends of the past

Downtrends are not always scary. In fact, they’re totally normal. Even the beloved Bitcoin has faced a downtrend or two in its past. One of the most significant downtrends in Bitcoin history occurred just last year. In 2018, Bitcoin experienced 6 consecutive months of lower and lower prices. Upon closer inspection, you might have noticed the year as a whole was not great for the coin. In this period Bitcoin lost 75% of its overall value; once having a market cap of over 480B and seeing a low of 120B at the end of the year.


There are a number of opportunities that a cryptocurrency downtrend presents; perhaps the most obvious is the opportunity to buy crypto at a price lower than ever before. This is because when crypto begins to drop, many begin to panic at the thought of losing money and sell their crypto. As supply increases and demand decreases, you (the crypto buyer) now have the opportunity to buy low.

For advanced traders, you might already know about the opportunities for shorting cryptocurrencies. Many exchanges, such as Binifex, Poloniex, and Kraken, all offer opportunities to short crypto such as Bitcoin. However, this strategy is also viewed as riskier.

The HODL Strategy

Ever heard of the saying when people cry you buy? Rather than worrying about getting out before things get worse, there is a very simple acronym you can use to avoid being the crier. You might’ve seen HODL used in the crypto community. This means when things take a turn for the worse, hold on for dear life. In doing this, the belief is the high prices will once again be restored.

How to make money

For the more advanced traders, you can also learn to trade within these crypto downtrends using short-selling strategies. Remember those corrective waves that we previously mentioned? If you happen to have been watching the crypto market, you might be able to make some predictions about which waves might be approaching. This presents you the unique opportunity to trade during a corrective-wave.  You might plan to short-sell your coins with the expectation that following a corrective wave, a larger impulse wave will follow.

Mitigate the risk

You’ve probably heard this time and time again, do your due diligence. This means research the crypto downtrends as well as the history of that digital asset. Then determine how much you are willing to invest that will not put you into debt if things go south.

Holding on to your investment’s long-term can be seen as smart investing. Even smarter investing is sitting with your eggs in several baskets. This means that your cryptocurrency should be sitting in a well-diversified portfolio that includes non-crypto assets. With this type of strategy, any losses incurred will be offset by the rest of your portfolio.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated globally every year on March 8th. It’s a day when we come together to recognize all of the social, economic, political and cultural achievements of women. Although in recent years social media has brought IWD to the world stage, you may not realize this internationally celebrated day pre-dates social media–by nearly a century.


At Wave, we pride ourselves on having an inclusive workplace that celebrates diversity and strives for gender parity. But what does that really mean? How did we get to where we are today when looking at our diverse leadership team and our 55:45 male to female ratio, in a male-dominated industry?

Ashira Gobrin, Wave’s Chief People Officer, shares her story from the lens of a woman with a deep history, immigrating to Canada and having to rebuild a new life for her and her family:

In previous years, in celebration of International Women’s Day, we have hosted or participated in panels that curated examples of inspiring women to recognize their achievements and inspire us all. This year, I am choosing to share my own story which is deeply personal, at times painful, but mostly a really happy one. So here goes:

My great grandparents were born and raised in Eastern Europe – in the countries of Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania until the late 1800s during a time where it was nearly impossible to find a job if you were Jewish. The conditions of poverty, cold, hunger, violence and suffering became unsustainable. Many got on boats with nothing but their children and the clothes on their back, and in my family’s case, my great grandmother’s silver candlesticks – often without knowing the destinations they were heading to – an escape from the unimaginable: anything had to be better. In our story, they landed on the coast of South Africa with no money, no skills, and no English, and set out to rebuild their lives again. Over 100 years later, those candlesticks still sit on my mother’s table every Friday night to remind us of our family values: who we are and where we came from.

I grew up in the late 1970’s – I’m almost exactly the same age as my friend and colleague Ideshini Naidoo. But her family is of Indian descent and so we would never have been allowed to play on the same beaches, or go to the same schools. My upbringing in many ways was sheltered from the horrors of segregation, poverty, and lack of opportunity that she lived through. But we were reminded frequently, that Jews were only one step above the non-white population, and that rampant antisemitism was always waiting around the corner.

Two generations later, my family packed our bags again and moved to the U.S, but I made my own journey moving to Canada–which was not always easy. I was a young woman trying to find a job in a new country with no friends or professional network, while also trying to raise a family and plant roots all over again. These times were overwhelming, to say the least. I try not to think too much about that time period because it was hard and there were many tearful moments. When I do look back at those years, I am grateful for the support of my devoted husband who was also navigating his own struggles. I am proud of my achievements having raised 3 children, volunteered many hours to my community, built a great career and made some true friends. But getting here was a story that is familiar to many immigrants. It is one of sacrifice, tremendous grit, and tenacity. Especially for women.

Today, I work at an extremely inclusive company for an extremely inclusive CEO. The reality is though, that with so few women leaders in tech, over the 22 years I have lived and worked in Toronto, I was and still am often the only one, or one of the very few women at a boardroom table, in a meeting, at a conference. At times in my career, I have been left out or left behind. I don’t play golf and I hate beer. I keep kosher and I don’t work or travel on Saturdays. That almost always means not being able to eat when we are out. Sometimes it’s isolating but I don’t feel undermined and I don’t feel less able to do my job because of where I work and who I work with. I have chosen to work with people who recognize what I bring, who make me feel comfortable, who give me opportunities. If I didn’t, I would move and find it somewhere else. No one has yet succeeded in stopping me. I am exactly where I want to be, and that’s truly what I care about.

In addition to my fulfilling career, I have the privilege and the responsibility to be involved as a volunteer in a leadership capacity at a few prominent and very senior Jewish community organizations. I have acted as “Chairman” of two separate boards of not-for-profit organizations. Through these roles, I have been privy to intelligence and information about antisemitic “incidents” and threats that are almost never public, but comes from serious and reliable sources and is monitored constantly at the higher security levels out of Israel and North America.

As a mother, as a wife, a daughter, an employee, a manager, a leader. How do I make each day count? How do I invest my heart and soul and every ounce of energy I have in everything I do? How do I give people opportunities to shine? How do I notice and open doors for others that may have a hard time getting through otherwise? How do I leave a legacy so the people that come after me have an easier time? That is my struggle, that is our eternal struggle, I think.

If you really look around, there are so many incredible women with unbelievable stories. We are white, Indian, Asian, brown, black. We are Jewish, Christian and Muslim, some not religious at all. We are single women, women with families, careers, dreams, and aspirations. We are women that have overcome great challenges to be where we are today. We are women of the world. Women in Tech. We are Women. We are just like you, only different. Ask us to tell you our stories. I am sure you will find them inspirational.
